2024 MAAC Water Polo Championship Set for this Weekend in Poughkeepsie

EDISON, NJ (Apr. 24, 2024) - The 2024 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Water Polo Championship is set for this weekend from Friday, April 26 through Sunday, April 28 at McCann Natatorium on the campus of Marist College in Poughkeepsie, NY.
 
The MAAC Water Polo Championship is a six team, single elimination tournament. The top three seeds from each division of the conference advance to the postseason tournament. The MAAC Water Polo Championship has been hosted by Marist since 2003. The opening round begins Friday, April 26, followed by the semifinal round on Saturday, April 27, and the final round will take place on Sunday, April 20. All rounds of the 2024 MAAC Water Polo Championship will be broadcasted on ESPN+.
 
The six qualifiers for the championship include two overall No. 1 seeds Wagner College and Marist College, followed by the No. 2 seeds LIU and Iona, and the No. 3 seeds Mount St. Mary’s and La Salle University.
 
Opening round competition begins on Friday, April 26 with No.2 (RED) LIU taking on No. 3 (BLUE) Mount St. Mary’s in the first matchup at 1pm.  LIU beat Mount during regular season play (18-8). In the second opening round matchup, No. 2 (BLUE) Iona will face off with No. 3 (RED) La Salle at 4pm. Iona and La Salle met one time in regular season play with Iona claiming the win by just one goal (10-9).
 
Regular season champions and winners of their respective divisions Wagner College (12-0 MAAC) and host school, Marist College (9-2 MAAC), will take on the winners of the opening round games in the semifinal round on Saturday, April 27.
