2024 MAAC Men’s Lacrosse Semifinal Round To Take Place on Thursday in Riverdale


Edison, NJ (May 1 2024) – The 2024 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Men’s Lacrosse Championship will continue Thursday, May 2 with semifinal round action. The semifinals and final round will be hosted by Manhattan College at Gaelic Park in Riverdale, NY. The Championship semifinals will air on ESPN+ at 3pm and 6:30pm, while the title game will take place on Saturday, May 4 at 11am and will be broadcasted live on ESPNU. The four teams remaining in the field are top seeded Sacred Heart University, No. 2 LIU, No. 3 Manhattan, and No. 5 Siena.
 
No. 1 Sacred Heart (11-4, 9-0 MAAC) vs. No. 5 Siena (8-7, 5-4 MAAC)

In the opening game of the semifinal round, No. 1 Sacred Heart will take on No. 5 Siena. Sacred Heart comes into the match as the No. 1 seed which granted them a first-round bye. No. 5 Siena defeated No. 4 Marist in the opening round by a score of 12-9. The Sacred Heart squad features the 2024 MAAC Coach of the Year Jon Basti, MAAC Co-Offensive Player of the Year, Morgan O'Reilly and Long Stick Midfielder of the Year, Zach Buffington The Siena Saints are looking to make their way back to the title match in the same fashion they did last year. This Siena team features the 2024 MAAC Rookie of the Year, Caden Olmstead, and All-MAAC Second Team defenseman Trevor Marsala. Siena is looking to claim their program’s fourth MAAC title. The last time these two teams met Sacred Heart topped the Saints, 18-8, on March 9.
 
No. 2 LIU (10-3, 7-2 MAAC) vs. No. 3 Manhattan (7-8, 6-3 MAAC)

Game two of the semifinal round features the No. 2 LIU Sharks and the No. 3 Manhattan Jaspers. LIU is entering the semifinals coming off an opening round bye while Manhattan took down No. 6 Quinnipiac to make their way back to the semifinal round for the fourth consecutive year. The Sharks squad features two All-MAAC First Team members, Tommy Ramsey and Karl LaCalandra. LIU is in pursuit of its program’s first MAAC title. The Jaspers squad is led by senior attacked Kyle Gucwa, who was named the 2024 MAAC Men’s Lacrosse Co-Offensive Player of the Year and unanimously selected for the All-MAAC first team, along with Kelly DuPree, Damien Brando, and Matt Scully, who all earned All-MAAC second team honors. In the regular season, LIU narrowly got the victory over Manhattan in a thrilling 13-12 win on April 10.
