The semifinals will begin with No. 22 nationally ranked Fairfield hosting No. 5 Mount St. Mary’s at high noon. The five-time defending MAAC tournament champion and back-to-back Regular Season champion Stags, will begin their title defense and the pursuit of MAAC Championship title number nine after having an opening round bye. Making its 18th consecutive appearance in the conference’s final four dating back to 2006, Fairfield enters postseason play as the hottest team in the country, having won 15 straight contests dating back to Valentine’s Day. The Stags went a perfect 9-0 versus MAAC foes this season and are looking to extend their current 13-game MAAC postseason winning streak, which dates back to 2018. Mount St. Mary’s will be making its program’s first ever appearance in the MAAC semifinals, following a 17-13 road victory over No. 4 Iona on Sunday in the opening round. The win for the Mount was the first in MAAC postseason for the team in just their second season as a member of the league. The Mountaineers are riding a three-game winning streak and have won four out of their last five contests in which the team has exploded offensively, scoring at least 12 goals in all four victories. In the regular season meeting between the two teams which occurred on April 6 in Emmitsburg, MD, Fairfield narrowly edged Mount St. Mary’s 11-10. The one-point scoring margin was the closest between the nationally ranked Stags and any other opponent in 2024 during the team’s 15 game win stretch. Friday’s contest will be the first ever postseason meeting between the two schools.

The second semifinal game of the afternoon will be a rematch of last season’s semifinal round matchup, when No. 2 Niagara and No. 3 Siena meet at 3pm. The two sides were across from each other just a year ago in the same round and time slot, with the difference being Siena was the No. 2 seed and Niagara was the No. 3 seed in 2023. In that matchup, which was the first ever tournament contest between the two programs, the Saints topped the Purple Eagles 13-10. Niagara finished its 2024 regular season slate with an impressive 14-3 overall mark and 7-2 tally in league play, with the No. 2 seed being the program’s highest seeding in the conference championship since 2001. Niagara is riding a five game winning-streak and appearing in the semis for the second straight season and third time since 2021. Siena is making its fifth consecutive semifinal dating back to 2019, after eliminating No. 6 Canisius, 9-6 in Sunday’s opening round. When Siena and Niagara met during the regular season on April 3 in Loudonville, NY, the Saints picked up an 11-10 comeback win, erasing a six-goal deficit.

The winners of the semifinals will advance to the 2024 MAAC Women's Lacrosse Championship final on Sunday, May 5. The championship match will also be played at Conway Field at Rafferty Stadium and will air live on ESPN+ at 12 p.m.
