POUGHKEEPSIE, NY (May 11, 2024)- The 2024 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Softball Championship concluded this afternoon with Siena College claiming the MAAC title for the first time in program history.

The MAAC Softball Championship concluded Saturday afternoon with No. 6 Siena and No. 4 Canisius battling to the very last out. The Saints got that final out from a Griff flyout to come out on top. The Saints won the game, 7-6.
The Griffs got on the board early and held the lead for the first two innings, but Siena got hot in the fourth, with the Saints getting five runs across the plate. Trailing by three, Canisius’ Sydney Costan homered, closing the score gap to one. An exciting seventh inning put Pardo and Cummings at the plate who both got hits and sent runners home, extending their lead to three runs. The Griffs last outing got the bases loaded and with the pressure on, Emily Illano smacked a double, sending two Griffs home. The final out of the tournament was a fly out to right field and the Saints sealed the deal, winning the game, 7-6.
The last time the six seed won the MAAC championship was in 2022 when Manhattan College came in as No. 6 and won it all.
