Cooper River to Host the 2024 MAAC Women’s Rowing Championship on Sunday

PENNSAUKEN TOWNSHIP, NJ (May 16, 2024) – The 2024 MAAC Women's Rowing Championship will take place at Cooper River in Pennsauken Township, NJ on Sunday, May 19, 2024. The championship returns to Cooper River for the fifth time over the past six seasons, after a one season absence in 2023. Canisius University, Drake University, Fairfield University, Jacksonville University, Marist College, Sacred Heart University, and Stetson University will compete for the league title and the conference's automatic qualifier for the 2024 NCAA Division I Women’s Rowing Championship.

Two-time defending MAAC Champion and top overall seed, Jacksonville, will look to defend its crown and win a third-straight league trophy in 2024. Last season, the Dolphins finished the 2023 Championship with a perfect 42-point total, earning victories in the Varsity Eight, Second Varsity Eight, and Varsity Four, clinching the program’s seventh overall conference title dating back to 2014. Second-seeded Sacred Heart will be seeking its program’s first-ever MAAC crown, while third-seeded Marist is looking to return to the top of the MAAC podium after back-to-back league crowns in 2021 and 2019. The Red Foxes have been the most dominate program in the conference, hoisting a MAAC-leading 12 championship trophies dating back to 1997. Out of the remainder of the field, Fairfield (2000) and Drake (2012), are the only other programs to secure MAAC Championships in league history.
