EDISON, NJ (Aug. 15, 2024) – The 2024-25 athletic season officially kicks off today for the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) with the start of the women’s soccer campaign. 10 of the 13 MAAC squads will be in action today and 12 total teams will take the pitch during opening week.
 
Headlining Thursday’s slate are a quintet of home games that will be hosted by Fairfield, Iona, Mount St. Mary’s, Niagara, and Quinnipiac. The Gaels will welcome Akron at 2:00 p.m., the Bobcats host Hofstra at 1:30 p.m., the Stags take on Holy Cross at 4:30 p.m., the Purple Eagles will battle Saint Francis at 5:00 p.m., and the Mountaineers face Hampton at 7:00 p.m.
 
Marist is the lone team in action on Friday, August 16, visiting Seton Hall at 6:00 p.m.
 
Opening weekend concludes on Sunday with eight total matches on the docket, two of which are home tilts. Highlighting the pair of home bouts are the season-opener for MAAC newcomer Sacred Heart, who will be taking on La Salle at noon and Niagara hosting Mercyhurst at 1:00 p.m.

The 2024 MAAC Women’s Soccer Championship is an eight-team, single-elimination championship taking place November 3-10, 2024. Each match during the championship will be hosted by the higher seed and all rounds of the championship will reseed. The quarterfinals will take place on Sunday, November 3, followed by the semifinals on Thursday, November 7, and concluding with the championship final on Sunday, November 10.
