Merrimack’s Kratz, Sacred Heart’s Alcoba and Siena’s Glinder Named Hercules Tires MAAC Men’s Soccer Weekly Award Winners

Jonathan Kratz, Merrimack

In his collegiate debut, Jonathan Kratz powered Merrimack to a 2-1 victory over Saint Joseph’s, scoring both tallies for the Warriors in the win. Kratz would score the first Merrimack goal of his career, tying the game at one in the 74th minute of action. Three minutes later in the 77th minute, he again found the back of the net after a turnover, giving the Warriors the lead and victory.
 
Co-Defensive Player of the Week
Pablo Alcoba, Sacred Heart

Pablo Alcoba contributed both offensively and defensively for the Sacred Heart in a 4-2 season-opening victory over Holy Cross. Offensively, Alcoba scored a header goal off a corner service to give the Pioneers a 2-0 lead in the 47th minute of play. He contributed significantly to the Pioneer defense, keeping the Crusaders shotless in the first half - allowing only four all game.

Bennet Glinder, Siena

Bennet Glinder made three saves in Siena's season-opening tie with UMass on Thursday, August 22. The sophomore saw 11 total shots while stopping each of the three Minutemen looks on net to keep the game at a deadlock and finish with a clean sheet in roughly 88 minutes of work. Glinder came up with a pair of crucial saves in the first 11 minutes of the second half, including one from the center of the penalty arc 30 seconds into the half.
 
The 2024 MAAC Men’s Soccer Championship is an eight-team, single-elimination championship taking place November 10-17, 2024. Each match during the championship will be hosted by the higher seed and all rounds of the championship will reseed. The quarterfinals will take place on Sunday, November 10, followed by the semifinals on Thursday, November 14, and concluding with the championship final on Sunday, November 17.
