JERSEY CITY, N.J.- Saint Peter's University Athletics announced the hiring of Alyssa Ruiz as the head softball coach for the 2024-2025 season.

Before this promotion, Ruiz served as an assistant coach on former head coach Chris Stelma's staff from 2018 to 2024. As an assistant coach, Ruiz was part of two 20-plus-win seasons. Ruiz played a pivotal role in 2023's 30-21 season. At the end of last season, Ruiz guided the Peacocks to a 17-4 win against Iona University as the acting head coach in the final game of the season.

Ruiz's experience at Saint Peter's goes far beyond her time on the coaching staff. She played at Saint Peter's for four seasons as a pitcher and second baseman. In 2017, Ruiz recorded 12 strikeouts on the mound and three hits at the plate as a two-way player.

This season, Ruiz will put her own stamp on the program that she has been a part of for more than 10 years.
