Senior outside hitter Kara Zaucha notched 43 kills and 34 digs over four matches in the Salt City Classic. The Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio native led the Griffs in kills in two of the four matches on the weekend and was named to the Salt City Classic All-Tournament Team for her efforts. Zaucha shined in the second match (vs Le Moyne) and the third match (vs Lafayette) as she led the Griffs in kills with 14 and 12, respectively. Zaucha put up numbers defensively as well as she registered three blocks against Syracuse.
 
Setter of the Week
Ella Bourque, Canisius
Jr., Yorkville, Ill., Yorkville
 
Ella Bourque notched 151 assists over four matches this weekend which leads the MAAC. Bourque's 151 assists bring her career total to 1,882 which surpassed Sydney Palka's 1,871 career total (2010-2013) to take sole possession of tenth place for all-time career assists in Canisius history. Bourque led her team with 51 assists and four service aces in the first match of the Salt City Classic where the Griffs downed NJIT 3-1. The Yorkville, Ill. native continued her dominance in a nightcap sweep over Le Moyne as she led the Griffs with 36 assists and two service aces. On day two of the tournament, Bourque led the Griffs with 42 assists and two service aces against Lafayette.
 
Libero of the Week/Rookie of the Week
Miliani Villarreal, Sacred Heart
Fr., Murrieta, Calif., Vista Murrieta
 
Miliani Villarreal led the Pioneers in digs in all three of the team's matches at the UConn Invitational, helping SHU go 2-1. The first year libero finished the weekend tournament with 49 digs (4.45/set), 18 assists, five aces and one double-double. She started the event with a match-high 15 digs in a sweep of Youngstown State on Friday. She followed that performance with a 21-dig, 11-assist double-double in a thrilling five-set win over LIU on Saturday. Villarreal capped her week with 13 digs and four assists against UConn on Sunday.
 
 
The 2024 MAAC Volleyball Championship is an eight-team, single-elimination championship taking place November 21-24, 2024 at UHY Center in Loudonville, NY on the campus of Siena College. The first round will take place on Thursday, November 21, followed by the second round on Friday, November 22, the semifinals on Saturday, November 23, and concluding with the championship final on Sunday, November 24.
