Dominate Performances at the Marist Season Opener Earns Iona’s Wellington and Fairfield’s Snayd Jersey Mike’s MAAC Cross Country Weekly Awards

Senior Lachlan Wellington led the No. 15 Iona men's cross country program to a first-place team finish at Saturday morning's Marist Season Opener with a first-place individual finish at the event. Wellington finished the 6k race with a time of 18:13.5, seven seconds ahead of his teammate in second place. The Gaels dominated the team standings with eight of the top 10 finishers and a score of 17, topping second place Marist by 54 points.
 
Women’s Runner of the Week
Hannah Snayd, Fairfield
Fr., Newtown, CT, Newtown
 
In her collegiate debut, Snayd won the Marist Season Opener. She completed the 5K in 17:56.6, winning by more than 21 seconds in a field that included harriers from UConn, Marist, Siena, Iona and UAlbany.
 
The 2024 MAAC Men’s & Women’s Cross Country Championships will be held at Twin Ponds on the Farm in Montgomery, New York on Saturday, November 2, 2024. The men’s 8k race will begin at 11:00 a.m. and the women’s 6k race will follow at 12:00 p.m. 2024 will mark the second straight year that the championship races will be held at Twin Ponds on the Farm and the meets will be hosted by Manhattan University for the 30th time.
