EDISON, NJ (Sep. 6, 2024) – The league portion of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) women’s soccer schedule is set to open tomorrow, Saturday, September 7 with a full slate of matches.
 
Headlining conference-openers and kicking off the day is a matchup between a pair of top five MAAC teams on the current standings, when Niagara welcomes Mount St. Mary’s to Western New York. The Purple Eagles (4-1), which sit in a first-place tie, and the Mountaineers (3-2), currently tied for third, will battle at 12:00 p.m. Also beginning league play at noon will be two-time defending MAAC Champion, Quinnipiac, hosting in-state foe and MAAC newcomer Sacred Heart.
 
A pair of matches are set for a 1:00 p.m. start and they include Canisius at Merrimack in North Andover, MA and Iona at Siena in Loudonville, NY.
 
Another featured bout on the MAAC docket includes Rider visiting Fairfield in Connecticut at 1:30 p.m. The matchup features two playoff squads from last season and is highlighted by the Stags who sit atop of the MAAC standings along with Niagara at 4-1 overall.
 
The final game of the day will be a primetime 7:00 p.m. kickoff in Poughkeepsie, NY between Saint Peter’s and Marist.
 
Manhattan will have a bye during the opening weekend of MAAC play and its conference season will commence next Saturday, September 14 at Canisius.

The 2024 MAAC Women’s Soccer Championship is an eight-team, single-elimination championship taking place November 3-10, 2024. Each match during the championship will be hosted by the higher seed and all rounds of the championship will reseed. The quarterfinals will take place on Sunday, November 3, followed by the semifinals on Thursday, November 7, and concluding with the championship final on Sunday, November 10.
