Quinnipiac’s Monroe and Rider’s Burton Selected as Hercules Tires MAAC Men’s Basketball Weekly Award Winners

Amarri Monroe averaged a double-double (23.0 PPG & 10.0 RPG) over a pair of MAAC wins this past week for the Bobcats. He also added six assists and three steals. The Preseason MAAC Player of the Year recorded 21 points and 11 rebounds on Thursday night vs. Merrimack, then poured in a career-high 25 points to go along with nine rebounds on Saturday at Mount St. Mary's. Monroe went 5-11 from 3-point distance, and 11-for-13 from the charity stripe over two victories.

Flash Burton averaged 17.5 points, 3.0 steals, 3.0 assists and 2.0 rebounds per game, while shooting 57.9 percent (11-19) from the floor, including 80.0 percent (4-5) from long range as the Broncs went 2-0 this week against a pair of teams with one combined loss entering their games (Mount St. Mary's - 4-1; Marist 6-0). Burton began the week with 14 points, five assists, four steals and two rebounds in a home win over Mount St. Mary's on Thursday. He then scored 17 of his career-high 21 points in handing first-place Marist its first league loss and snapping the Red Foxes' nine-game winning streak. He added two steals, two rebounds, an assist and a block.
