Iona’s Donnelly, The Mount’s Fahey, Rider’s Stephens, and Quinnipiac’s Smith Pick Up Bob McCloskey Insurance MAAC Indoor Track & Field Weekly Awards

Men’s Track Athlete of the Week:
Tadhg Donnelly, Iona
Sr., Clogherhead, Ireland, St. Josephs CBS
 
Junior Tadhg Donnelly captured first place in the 5,000-meter event at the 2025 Dr. Sander Scorcher hosted by Columbia University at the Armory Track & Field Center.  Donnelly ran his first indoor sub-14-minute time with a 13:52.34. 
He was 16 seconds ahead of second place Columbia senior Gavin White. He topped his fastest outdoor time of (13:53.12) set last March at the Raleigh Relays. 
It stands currently as the 65th fastest time of the 2024-25 indoor campaign in the NCAA. It was the second fastest time in the MAAC this year, behind his teammate Rankin from December in Boston.
Donnelly becomes the 15th Gael to run a sub-14-minute 5k indoor time and stands as seventh fastest in school history.
 
Men’s Field Athlete of the Week:
Arran Fahey, The Mount
Sr.,  Oceanside, Calif., Vista
 
Senior pole vaulter Arran Fahey Hit the best mark in the MAAC for the pole vault this season, registering a score of 5.10 meters to earn the win at the Gulden Invitational. Mark is tied for seventh best among IC4A/ECAC challengers and also ranks in the top 75 for NCAA Division I pole vaulters. Came within .03 meters of his personal record and .05 meters of the school record. 
 
Women’s Track Athlete of the Week:
Rylie Smith, Quinnipiac
Sr.,  Pittsburgh, Pa., Seneca Valley
 
Rylie Smith ran the fastest 400m time in the MAAC and sixth-fastest time in the Northeast region over the weekend, clocking in at 55.98 in the Dr. Sander Scorcher. Her time is over a second faster than anyone in the league.
 
 
Women’s Field Athlete of the Week:
Mariah Stephens, Rider
Sr., Egg Harbor Township, NJ, Egg Harbor Township
 
Senior Mariah Stephens finished 3rd in the long jump invitational at the Dr. Sander Scorcher. It is the #1 mark in the MAAC and an ECAC qualifier. She also finished 11th in the triple jump invitational with a mark of 11.73m.  It is the #2 mark in the MAAC and an ECAC qualifier. 
 
 
The 2025 MAAC Men's and Women's Indoor Track & Field Championships will be held on Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 22-23, 2025, at the Nike Track and Field Center at The Armory in New York, New York. The two-day meet will be hosted by Manhattan College and will be held at The Armory for the 21st consecutive year dating back to 2004.
