Fairfield’s Slater, Iona’s Varada, and Rider’s Shean Secure Jersey Mike’s MAAC Women’s Lacrosse Weekly Awards

Offensive Player of the Week
Grace Slater, Fairfield
Sr., North Potomac, MD, Stone Ridge School of the Sacred Heart
 
Grace Slater had an 11-point week for the Stags, netting eight goals with three assists. In Wednesday's win at BU, Slater scored four goals and handed out an assist. She added six points on Saturday against Hofstra, scoring four times once again while distributing two helpers.
 
Defensive Player of the Week
Kira Varada, Iona
Sr., Montrose, NY, Hendrick Hudson
 
In the loss to Boston U. senior Kira Varada caused six Boston turnovers and picked up five ground balls, both were game highs. This was the third time in her career with six or more caused turnovers.
 
Rookie of the Week
Elizabeth Shean, Rider
Fr., Seal Beach, CA, Los Alamitos
 
Shean recorded five goals and two assists across a pair of games for the Broncs. Against Bucknell, the freshman recorded her first career hat trick with three goals and an assist, also adding a caused turnover. Against Rhode Island, she scored twice and added an assist on Rider's 12th goal that put the Broncs up for good in a 13-12 victory.
 
The 2025 MAAC Women's Lacrosse Championship is an eight-team, single-elimination championship taking place between April 25 and May 4, 2025. The first and second rounds will be hosted by the No. 3 and No. 4 seeds on Friday and Sunday, April 25 and 27. The bracket will reseed following the second round and the semifinals and championship final will be hosted by the No. 1 seed in the field on Friday, May 2 and Sunday, May 4.
