Manhattan’s Brennan, Rider’s Vetere, Sacred Heart’s Brogioli, and Saint Peter’s Gooden Pick Up Bob McCloskey Insurance MAAC Indoor Track & Field Weekly Awards

Men’s Track Athlete of the Week:
Delano Gooden, Saint Peter's
Gr., Union, NJ, Union
 
Graduate student sprinter Delano Gooden delivered a standout performance at the Metropolitan Championships, claiming first place in the men’s 60m dash with a time of 6.85 seconds. He also secured a runner-up finish in the 200m, clocking 21.88 seconds, the fastest among MAAC competitors at the meet.
Gooden’s victory in the 60m marks one of the top sprint performances in the conference this season, helping Saint Peter’s to a fifth-place team finish among 13 schools.
 
 
Men’s Field Athlete of the Week:
Paul Brennan, Manhattan
Gr., Cranbury, NJ, Princeton
 
At the Metropolitan Championships this past weekend, senior Paul Brennan compiled a second-place score in the Men's Shot Put with a park of 15.18. In the Men's Weight Throw event, Brennan finished atop the respective chart with a 19.92m mark and logged a combined 18 points in the two events. Brennan's hurl in the weight was a new personal best for the veteran thrower, giving the Jaspers yet another highlight on their way to taking third place as a team.
 
Women’s Track Athlete of the Week:
Magdalena Brogioli, Sacred Heart
Jr., Mattapoisett, Mass., Old Rochester Regional
 
For the second time this season Magdalena Brogioli broke the SHU record in the 60m hurdles at the Scarlet Knight Open. Brogioli broke her previous record by a tenth of a second after completing the finals in second place. The junior ran a blistering 8.60, solidifying it as the top time in the MAAC. Brogioli beat the defending MAAC hurdle champ (Mariah Stephens of Rider) in their first head-to-head match-up of the season in the hurdle final on Friday.
 
Women’s Field Athlete of the Week:
Gabby Vetere, Rider
Jr., Turnersville, NJ, Washington TWP
 
Junio pole vaulter Gabby Vetere cleared 3.88m in the pole vault at the Scarlet Knight Open to break the Rider Record. She has the #1 mark in the MAAC and it is also an ECAC qualifier. 
 
The 2025 MAAC Men's and Women's Indoor Track & Field Championships will be held on Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 22-23, 2025, at the Nike Track and Field Center at The Armory in New York, New York. The two-day meet will be hosted by Manhattan College and will be held at The Armory for the 21st consecutive year dating back to 2004.
