EDISON, NJ (Mar. 19, 2025) – Fresh off a three-peat at the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Indoor Track and Field Championships, the Rider University Broncs have been chosen as the favorites to win a third straight title in both MAAC Men's and Women's Outdoor Track & Field Preseason Coaches’ Polls, as voted on by the league's head coaches.
The Rider Broncs men’s team received nine first place votes for a total of 99 points to lead the poll. At the 2024 Championships, the Broncs finished with a team score of 267, almost doubling up second place Mount St. Mary’s who finished with 135 points. Rider will look to win its fifth overall outdoor title this season, having clinched league trophies in 2011, 2013, 2023, and 2024 previously. Iona, which finished fourth last season, was voted second in the poll (83), followed by 2024 runner-up Mount St. Mary’s (81), who earned the final first place vote.
On the women's side, Rider received a total of 142 points with 10 first place votes to earn the top spot in the poll. The Broncs claimed the 2024 Championship after achieving 227 points, en route to a second straight crown. Rider seeks its sixth overall title, having won the outdoor meet in 2004, 2007, 2013, 2023, and 2024. Quinnipiac, last year’s second-place finisher, was voted second in this year’s poll (131), while MAAC newcomer Sacred Heart was voted third (119). Both Quinnipiac and Sacred Heart collected one first place vote each.
