Men’s Track Athlete of the Week:
Abdulazeez Iyiola, The Mount
Fr., Beverly, N.J., Palmyra
Freshman hurdler Abdulazeez Iyiola excelled in both hurdles events at the Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational. He ran the 400 hurdles in 55.62 seconds which ranks first in the MAAC and finished third in the 100 hurdles with a time of 14.84 seconds, which also ranks third in the conference.
Men’s Field Athlete of the Week:
Brandon Falconer, The Mount
Fr., Black River, Jamaica
Freshman Brandon Falconer won the javelin with a distance of 69.02 meters, recording the second-best mark in Mount history with his winning effort at the Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational. The distance is best in the MAAC by more than six meters and ranks sixth among NCAA Division I East competitors.
Women’s Track Athlete of the Week:
Elizabeth Freymann, The Mount
Jr., Severna Park, Md., Chesterton Academy of Annapolis
Middle distance runner Elizabeth Freymann finished first in the MAAC for the 800m, registering a runner-up time of 2:14.97 in the event at the Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational.
Women’s Field Athlete of the Week:
Kennedy Vaughn, Saint Peter's
Jr., Roselle, NJ, Abraham Clark High School
Kennedy Vaughn has a dominant showing in Saint Peter's outdoor season opener at the Peacock Relays, securing first place finishes in both the shot put and discus events. Vaughn topped the field in the women's shot put (4kg) with a winning throw of 9.97m, nearly a full meter ahead of the next competitor. She continued her success in the discus, claiming victory with a mark of 30.69m, just shy of her personal best (30.79m). Her performance helped lead the Peacocks to strong start in their home opener, as the women's field squad claimed first place in every event they competed in.
The 2025 MAAC Men's and Women's Indoor Track & Field Championships will be held on Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 22-23, 2025, at the Nike Track and Field Center at The Armory in New York, New York. The two-day meet will be hosted by Manhattan College and will be held at The Armory for the 21st consecutive year dating back to 2004.
