In four total games at the Harvard Invite, senior attacker Carlota Alonso tallied 18 goals. In a 22-9 win over Siena she recorded five goals, against #22 Brown, she added four goals. In a 21-18 win over #23 Cal Baptist she added eight goals and against #11 Harvard, she added one goal.
Defensive Player of the Week
Olivia Fernie, The Mount
So., Sydney, Australia, Freshwater Senior Campus
Sophomore goalkeeper Olivia Fernie recorded 48 saves in five games started for the Mount on their tour of California and the appearances at the Claremont Convergence Tournament. She also recorded wins against California Lutheran and Cal State Fullerton.
Rookie of the Week
Layla Canales, Villanova
Fr., Gainesville, Fla., Gainesville
Freshman attacker Layla Canales starred in her first collegiate tournament in California, helping lead the Wildcats to a 4-1 record and a sweep of the Convergence Tournament. She found the back of the net 13 times, and also had four assists. Three of those goals came on 5M attempts. She recorded six steals and three field blocks on defense. Canales also drew an exclusion.
The 2025 MAAC Water Polo Championship will take place April 25-27, 2025. The six-team, single-elimination championship will be hosted by Marist University in Poughkeepsie, NY.
