2025 MAAC Men’s Basketball Championship Field Set

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ (Mar. 8, 2025) – Following Saturday’s regular season finales, the field is officially set for the 2025 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Men’s Basketball Championship. The annual conference tournament will take place from March 11-15 at historic Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
 
The top six teams on the league’s final standings will receive first round byes. Team’s clinching byes to the quarterfinals include back-to-back MAAC Regular Season Champions, No. 1 Quinnipiac University (19-12, 15-5 MAAC), No. 2 Merrimack College (17-14, 14-6 MAAC), No. 3 Marist University (20-9, 13-7 MAAC), No. 4 Iona University (15-16, 12-8 MAAC), No. 5 Manhattan University (17-12, 12-8 MAAC), and No. 6 Mount St. Mary’s University (19-12, 12-8 MAAC).
 
First round action begins on Tuesday, March 11 with a pair of games on the docket. Tipping off the 2025 championship will be No. 8 Rider University (13-18, 9-11 MAAC) and No. 9 Siena College (14-17, 9-11) at 6:00 p.m. During the lone regular season meeting, the Broncs edged the Saints 61-59 on February 8 in Lawrenceville, NJ. The winner will meet No. 1 Quinnipiac in the quarterfinals on Wednesday, March 12 at 6:00 p.m.
 
Connecticut rivals No. 7 Sacred Heart University (14-17, 10-10 MAAC) and No. 10 Fairfield University (12-19, 8-12 MAAC) will take part in game two of the first round at 8:30 p.m. The Pioneers swept the regular season series during their first year in the MAAC, taking both games from the Stags. On February 8 at Fairfield, Sacred Heart earned a 77-71 road victory. In the game at Sacred Heart, the Pios picked up an 83-62 win at home on March 2. The advancing team will take on No. 2 Merrimack in the quarters on March 12 at 8:30 p.m.
 
Thursday, March 13 will feature a pair of predetermined quarterfinals contests. First at 6:00 p.m., New York City rivals No. 4 Iona and No. 5 Manhattan will face off. The rivals split the season series in 2024-25, with the home team coming out victorious in both matchups. In Riverdale, the Jaspers protected their home court with a 76-55 win over the Gaels on January 31. On February 21 in New Rochelle, Iona defeated Manhattan 65-60 in their house. Then at 8:30 p.m. No. 3 Marist and No. 6 Mount St. Mary’s will square off. The Mountaineers and the Red Foxes split the regular season series with each other. They first met during the season opener back on December 6, where Marist got by the Mount, 53-50 in Poughkeepsie, NY. In the regular season finale on March 8 in Emmitsburg, MD, the Mountaineers beat the Red Foxes 62-52.
 
All games during the 2025 MAAC Men’s Basketball Championship will broadcast live on ESPN+. Friday’s two semifinal contests will air live on ESPNews and Saturday’s championship title game will air nationally on ESPNU in primetime at 7:30 p.m.
