2025 MAAC Women’s Basketball Championship Field Set

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ (Mar. 8, 2025) – With the regular season concluding on Saturday evening, the field has officially been determined for the 2025 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Women’s Basketball Championship. The annual conference tournament will take place from March 11-15 at historic Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
 
The league’s top six teams will earn a first round bye. Team’s clinching byes to the quarterfinals include back-to-back MAAC Regular Season Champions and top overall seed, Fairfield University (25-4, 19-1 MAAC), No. 2 Quinnipiac University (26-3, 18-2 MAAC), No. 3 Siena College (17-12, 14-6 MAAC), No. 4 Mount St. Mary’s University (14-15, 12-8 MAAC), No. 5 Marist University (16-14, 11-9 MAAC), and No. 6 Merrimack College (13-16, 9-11 MAAC).
 
The championship commences with the first round on Tuesday, March 11. Kicking-off the 2025 championship will be No. 8 Manhattan University (15-14, 9-11 MAAC) and No. 9 Canisius University (10-20, 9-11) at 12:00 p.m. The Jaspers and Golden Griffins met once during the regular season on February 27, with the contest resulting in a 71-35 home victory for Manhattan in Riverdale, NY. The winner will meet No. 1 Fairfield in the quarterfinals on Wednesday, March 12 at 12:00 p.m.
 
The second contest of the first round will put No. 7 Saint Peter’s University (11-18, 9-11 MAAC) against No. 10 Iona University (10-20, 8-12 MAAC) at 2:30 p.m. Back on December 21, the two teams played in Jersey City, NJ, and the visiting Gaels topped the Peacocks, 56-50. That contest was the lone regular season matchup between the two. No. 2 Quinnipiac awaits the winner of this game for a date in the quarters on March 12 at 2:30 p.m.
 
The two quarterfinal round matchups scheduled for Thursday, March 13 are predetermined games. No. 4 Mount St. Mary’s and No. 5 Marist will meet at 12:00 p.m. in one contest, while No. 3 Siena and No. 6 Merrimack will battle at 2:30 p.m. in the other. The Mountaineers and the Red Foxes split the regular season series in 2024-25, playing in the conference season opener and regular season finale. In the opener back on December 19, Marist edged the Mount, 61-50 in overtime in Emmitsburg, MD. On March 8 in the regular season finale, the Mountaineers topped the Red Foxes, by the exact same score of 61-50, earning the series split and locking down the No. 4 seed for the Mount. The Saints and Warriors played one time in 2024-25, facing each other in Loudonville, NY on January 18. Siena was victorious in the bout, winning 79-57 at home.
 
All games during the 2025 MAAC Women’s Basketball Championship will broadcast live on ESPN+. Saturday’s championship title game will air live for a national audience on ESPNU at 1:30 p.m.
