Sacred Heart’s Breitbeil, The Mount’s Furlong, and Rider’s Shean Named Jersey Mike’s MAAC Women’s Lacrosse Weekly Award Winners

Graduate Student attacker Mackenzi Furlong recorded 10 points - split down the middle between goals and assists - as the Mountaineers defeated Rider and Fairfield. Earned a hat trick against the Broncs as the Mount earned their best offensive output of the year, and finished with four points as the team handed the Stags their first regular season defeat since 2023. Leader on Mount St. Mary's and eighth in the league for assists (1.17 per game).
 
Defensive Player of the Week
Madelyn Breitbeil, Sacred Heart

Sophomore Madelyn Breitbeil recorded an impressive week for the Pioneers as the sophomore defender totaled nine caused turnovers, while scooping up 13 ground balls. In the home loss to Siena on Saturday. Breitbeil tied her season-high in caused turnovers with five and set a new season-high in ground balls with seven. 
 
Rookie of the Week
Elizabeth Shean, Rider
Fr., Seal Beach, CA, Los Alamitos
 
Freshman attacker Elizabeth Shean scored five goals and added an assist across two games during the week. Against Mount St. Mary's Shean recorded her second career hat trick, adding an assist. Against Niagara, the freshman scored twice including the game-tying goal with just over two minutes remaining that sent the contest to overtime.
 
The 2025 MAAC Women's Lacrosse Championship is an eight-team, single-elimination championship taking place between April 25 and May 4, 2025. The first and second rounds will be hosted by the No. 3 and No. 4 seeds on Friday and Sunday, April 25 and 27. The bracket will reseed following the second round and the semifinals and championship final will be hosted by the No. 1 seed in the field on Friday, May 2 and Sunday, May 4.
