Metro Conference Commissioner Travis Tellitocci announced Monday the appointment of Tommy Armstrong as the Digital Content Coordinator & Correspondent.
“We are excited to welcome Tommy Armstrong to the Metro Conference team,” said Tellitocci. “Tommy brings valuable experience in sports broadcasting, digital content creation and storytelling, having worked at both the Power Four level and within our Conference. His experience across multiple media platforms and understanding of collegiate athletics will be valuable as we continue to expand our digital presence and showcase our student-athletes and member institutions. We look forward to the creativity and energy he will bring to our team.”
Armstrong joins the conference with experience across television, radio and digital platforms, most recently working as a sports reporter intern at DC News Now and a digital content creator for FantasyPros. At DC News Now, he produced and reported daily sports packages covering professional and local sports throughout the Washington, D.C., Maryland and Virginia region. At FantasyPros, he creates weekly fantasy football content and hosts live TikTok sessions, contributing to significant growth in viewership and audience engagement.
In his new role, Armstrong will serve as the Metro Conference’s first-ever digital correspondent, helping expand the conference’s video content and digital storytelling efforts. He will play a key role in showcasing the achievements, personalities and experiences of student-athletes across the conference’s member institutions.
Armstrong also brings extensive experience covering collegiate athletics. He previously served as a play-by-play broadcaster for Syracuse basketball and volleyball on the ACC Network, where he contributed to broadcast preparation, statistical research and production. He also covered Syracuse athletics as a beat reporter for CuseNation on 247Sports and as a multimedia journalist with the Newhouse Sports Media Center.
A Marist University graduate, Armstrong spent two years working Marist ESPN+ events, calling contests across volleyball, softball, men's and women's lacrosse, and soccer. He also served as a radio voice for basketball and football, provided on-camera reporting for championship events and hosted studio shows.
A native of Clark, New Jersey, Armstrong earned a Bachelor of Arts in Sports Communications with a minor in Business from Marist University. He also completed a Master of Science in Broadcast and Digital Journalism at Syracuse University's S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, with a focus on sports media.
