EDISON, NJ (Oct. 5, 2026) –– Fairfield men's and women's swimming and diving finished first in the 2026-27 Metro Preseason Coaches' Poll with the Stags voted by the conference's head coaches to run it back in 2027.
The Stags, winners of both the 2026 men's and women's conference titles, recevied 10 of 12 first-place votes on the women's side, and all but one vote in the men's tally.
Rounding out the top three in the men's poll were Fairfield with 80 points (8), Marist with 68 points, and Niagara with 65. In fourth, Iona received one first-place vote. On the women's side, Fairfield led the pack with 142 points (10 first-place), followed by Marist with 129 (one first-place vote), and Niagara with 124 points and one first-place vote.
At last year's conference championships, Fairfield's women's team scored a total of 1325.5 points, edging runner-up Marist by 10 points. Overall, the Stags have won five conference championships, last winning the league trophy in 2023 before the 2026 victory. Fairfield won three straight women's crowns from 2018 to 2020. On the men's side in 2026, the Stags became the second straight program, sixth overall, in conference history to sweep both team titles.
The 2027 Metro Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving Championships is a four-day meet that will take place February 17-20, 2027, and will be hosted at SPIRE Academy in Geneva, Ohio, for the fourth-straight year.
