Week 8 Metro women's soccer weekly honors

Offensive Player of the Week
Anna Swyers, Siena
Junior, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada

 
Swyers netted the first Siena Women’s Soccer hat trick in 11 years – scoring the tying and go-ahead goals in the span of just 3:28 with less than six minutes to go – as the Saints stunned defending conference tournament champion Sacred Heart 3-2 Saturday in Connecticut. The junior midfielder knotted the score for a second time with just 5:29 remaining, before burying the decisive free kick with only 2:01 to go to propel the Saints to their first-ever win on Park Avenue Field, and first victory over the Pioneers in 22 years. 
 
Defensive Player of the Week
Ashley Moore, Rider

Sophomore, Freehold, NJ
 
In her two starts for the Broncs this past week, Moore recorded nine saves and two wins in between the posts. Against Iona on October 3, Moore recorded six saves and finished with a clean sheet during Rider's 2-0 win against the Gaels. 

Rookie of the Week
Lucy Trinder, Niagara

Freshman, Oxford, England
 
Lucy Trinder scored her third goal of the season in a Niagara 3-0 win over Saint Peter's. Trinder's goal came in the 66th minute of the match, when Naiya Johnston fed her a cross, which Trinder put in the back of a volley.

The 2026 Metro Women’s Soccer Championship is a six-team, single-elimination championship taking place November 8-15, 2026. Each match during the championship will be hosted by the higher seed and all rounds of the championship will reseed. The first round will take place on Sunday, November 8, followed by the semifinals on Thursday, November 12, and concluding with the championship final on Sunday, November 15.
