2026 Metro Women’s Soccer Championship begins Sunday with first-round play

35th championship begins with pair of first round matchups at campus sites

EDISON, NJ (Nov. 7, 2026) –– The 2026 Metro Women's Soccer Championship kicks off Sunday with a pair of first-round matchups, both at noon ET, and both rematches of regular-season meetings. The 35th edition of the championship opens with (4) Siena hosting (5) Manhattan in Loudonville, New York, while (3) Fairfield travels to (6) Marist in Poughkeepsie, New York.

Siena enters on a roll: unbeaten in seven of its last eight matches, with program records for conference wins (eight) and team shutouts (11). The Saints took the Sept. 5 conference opener from Manhattan, 1-0, on Hickey Field. The Jaspers are back in the field for the first time since 2024, when they won a first-round match at Siena as the No. 5 seed.

Across the bracket, Fairfield brings the Metro's most dangerous attack into Poughkeepsie. The Stags led the league in goals (45) and all of Division I in shots per game (21.8), and they beat Marist 5-1 on Oct. 6. Marist answers with goalkeeper Samantha Graf, who has started all 17 matches in net this season.

Regular-season champion (1) Quinnipiac, claiming its third title and first since 2023, and (2) Niagara earned first-round byes and await their semifinal opponents on Thursday, Nov. 12. With defending champion Sacred Heart out of the field, the Metro will crown a different women's soccer champion for the third consecutive year. Following first-round play, the championship will reseed the remaining teams, with the No. 1 seed facing the lowest remaining seed and the No. 2 seed meeting the highest remaining seed. The 2026 championship final takes place on Sunday, Nov. 15, with the winner earning the Conference's automatic qualifier (AQ) to the NCAA Division I Women's Soccer Championship. All matches will air on ESPN+.
