Merrimack and Sacred Heart advance to the 2026 Metro Men’s Soccer Semifinals

(6) Merrimack – 2, (3) Quinnipiac – 0

Jonathan Kratz scored twice and Matteo Malaguti made seven saves as Merrimack beat Quinnipiac 2-0 on Saturday afternoon in Hamden, CT. The Warriors were outshot 17-7 and had only two shots on goal, but they made both count. Kratz put Merrimack ahead in the 23rd minute, finishing off an assist from Mason Salvadge. Quinnipiac piled on the pressure for the rest of the half, firing nine shots, but Malaguti stopped all six on target before the break. The Bobcats kept attacking after halftime, taking eight more shots and earning four more corners, but Malaguti stayed perfect, finishing with seven saves and the shutout. Kratz sealed it in the 87th minute when Ziad Barakat set him up for his second goal. Quinnipiac’s Taehyeon Lim and Remy Barone each put shots on target, and William Holum and Cameron Brooks led the team with three shots apiece, but goalkeeper Alexander Hansen was left without a save on the two shots he faced. The Warriors will advance to face (1) Fairfield in the Metro Men’s Soccer Championship semifinals on Wednesday, Nov. 11 at 7 PM ET.

(5) Niagara – 0, (4) Sacred Heart – 3

Sacred Heart beat Niagara 3-0 on Saturday at Park Ave Field, pulling away with two goals in less than two minutes late in the second half.
