Junior Joseph Capuzzo claimed first place in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 15:09.54, finishing 18 seconds ahead of the runner-up as the Griffs competed at the Cardinal Classic.
Men’s Field Performer of the Week
Brandon Falconer, Mount St. Mary's
So., Black River, Jamaica, Cornwall High School
Sophomore Brandon Falconer finished 35th in the country and 17th in the NCAA East for the javelin, winning the event at the Jim Freeman/Clark Wood Invitational at Louisville. It was his second best finish as a collegian, and fifth victory in his college career.
Men’s Rookie of the Week
Joshua Dean, Mount St. Mary's
Fr., Collingdale, PA, Academy Park High School
Joshua Dean finished second in the MAAC for the 100m (10.53 seconds) and third in the MAAC for the 200m (21.44 seconds), setting PR's in both events. He was a top-15 finisher at the competitive Jim Freeman/Clark Wood Invitational.
Women’s Track Performer of the Week
Nyasia Dailey, Quinnipiac
Sr., Middletown, CT, Middletown
Nyasia Dailey was part of two record breaking performances at the Penn Relays, re-setting her own program record in the 100m and setting a new MAAC record in the 4x100.
Women’s Field Performer of the Week
Jacey Hentz, Mount St. Mary's
Jr., Newmanstown, PA, Eastern Lebanon County
Jacey Hentz won the pole vault and earned the top mark in the MAAC with a distance of 3.82 meters. The distance tied for the third best mark in program history.
Women’s Rookie of the Week
Kendra Green, Rider
Fr., Easthampton, NJ, Rancocas Valley High School
Green won the shot put at the Rick McCorkle Invitational with a mark of 13.84 meters. It is the #1 mark in the MAAC by over 2 feet and is the #8 mark all-time at Rider. She also finished 7th in the discus with a mark of 37.37 meters.
