Turmel, Kelleher and Arango earn first Metro weekly awards of 2026-27

Offensive Player of the Week
Shea Kelleher, Sacred Heart
Sr., Kingston, MA, Silver Lake Regional
 
Recorded two goals and a pair of assists over two outings to kickoff the 2026 season. The senior forward scored the game-winner against Vermont, securing the first-ever win for the Pioneers over the Catamounts. Sacred Heart was one of two Metro squads (Iona) to go 2-0 in its first two games, powered by Kelleher's six statistical points.
 
Defensive Player of the Week
Alexa Turmel, Canisius
Fr., Levis, Quebec, Pointe-Levy
 
In her collegiate debut, recorded three saves vs. Le Moyne to earn the shutout win on Aug. 13. Two of her three stops came in the first half.
 
Rookie of the Week
Natalia Arango, Iona
Fr., Nanuet, NY, Albertus Magnus
 
Natalia Arango had a strong opening week to her collegiate career with Iona. In her second career game on Sunday, the rookie defender scored her first collegiate goal in Iona’s 2-1 road victory at Le Moyne. Arango’s second-half strike proved to be the game-winning goal, helping the Gaels complete a 2-0 opening week to the 2026 campaign.
 
The 2026 Metro Women’s Soccer Championship is a six-team, single-elimination championship taking place November 8-15, 2025. Each match during the championship will be hosted by the higher seed and all rounds of the championship will reseed. The opening round will take place on Sunday, November 8, followed by the semifinals on Thursday, November 12, and concluding with the championship final on Sunday, November 15.
