EDISON, NJ (August 20, 2026) – The fall season continues as the 2026 Metro Conference men’s soccer season gets underway on Thursday. Nearly every conference institution will open its season, with three teams hosting and nine taking to the road. Five additional matches are set for Sunday, August 23, to round out the opening weekend.
Canisius starts the day with in-state foe Le Moyne at 4:00PM. At 6:00PM, Rider takes on James Madison in Harrisonburg, VA, while Siena faces NJIT in Newark, NJ. Following the 6:00PM games, seven contests are scheduled for 7:00PM where Mount St. Mary’s, Niagara, and Marist will each host their first home game of the season, facing Binghamton, St. Bonaventure, and Stony Brook, respectively. Also, at 7:00PM, Iona plays former conference member Monmouth, Sacred Heart visits Providence, and Saint Peter’s meets in-state foe FDU. Merrimack will go up against Power 4 opponent Boston College to close out the 7:00PM slate. Continuing opening day, Fairfield takes on Marshall at 7:15PM, while Quinnipiac meets Missouri State at 8:00PM to close out Thursday’s action.
On Sunday, August 23, five teams will take the pitch, with two teams hosting at home. The day begins with Merrimack compositing against Holy Cross at 2:00PM in Worcester, MA. The day continues with two 3:00PM games, as Canisius hosts Robert Morris and Manhattan visits Central Connecticut State.
Boston College will make another appearance at 5:00PM, facing defending champion Siena. Marist will then host Air Force at 7:00PM to close out the opening weekend.

The 2026 Metro Men's Soccer Championship is a six-team, single-elimination tournament scheduled for November 7–14. Each match will be hosted by the higher seed, with teams reseeded following each round of the championship. The tournament begins with the first round on Saturday, November 7, followed by the semifinals on Wednesday November 11. The championship concludes with the title match on Saturday, November 14.
