Kevin Duncan wrapped up his fall season with the Fairfield University men’s golf team as the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Golfer of the Month for October. The Stags’ rookie also earned the conference’s September honor.
In seven rounds in October, Duncan carded an average score of 73.29 (+1.86) for the Stags. His month was highlighted by an individual win at the New England Intercollegiate Golf Association (NEIGA) Championship in which he shot a two-day 146 (+2) to top the leaderboard in a field of 25 golfers.
For the month, all seven of Duncan’s rounds were at 75 or better, including a 70 (-2) on day one of the Connecticut Cup. In addition to his NEIGA crown, Duncan was consistently among the top part of the field, placing 24th of 73 golfers at the MacDonald Cup and 15th of 87 golfers at the Connecticut Cup.
In September, Duncan also won MAAC Golfer of the Month laurels after taking medalist honors at the ECAC Championship lead the Stags to their first-ever team title at the event.
Clare Battaglia
Swimming & Diving, Senior, Williamsville, N.Y./Williamsville North
As a senior, Battaglia has swam well for the Canisius College Golden Griffins helping them in her events as the Swimming and Diving team begins their 2015-2016 season. Battaglia was a part of the winning women’s 200-yard freestyle this weekend against Colgate University, while getting two second place finishes against Geneseo last weekend in the 100 yard backstroke and 1000 freestyle. The Senior was a part of five school record setting relay teams at the MAAC Championships during the 2013-14 season, while also setting school records in the 200-yard IM, 200-yard backstroke and 100-yard backstroke during her freshman season. The psychology major currently possesses a 3.77 GPA.
