MAAC Offensive Player of the Week

IGNACIO MAGANTO, Iona

M, Jr., 5-7, 140, Madrid, Spain/Nstra

The junior midfielder notched his first career hat trick to lead Iona to a 3-1 victory over Rider. Maganto’s first goal, from less than a yard out after playing a deflection off of the Broncs’ keeper, gave the Gaels the lead the at the 24 minute mark of the first half. Maganto added his second goal 12 minutes later when he stole the ball near midfield, dribbled inside the 18-yard stripe, and found space to drill a shot into the upper right corner to give Iona a 2-0 advantage at halftime. His third goal extended the lead for the Gaels. Earlier in the week he had a shot on goal against Monmouth. It is the second time this season that he has earned Offensive Player of the Week honors.

MAAC Defensive Player of the Week

ERIC KLENOFSKY, Monmouth

G, Fr., 6-6, 170, Lincoln Park, NJ/DePaul Catholic

 

Klenofsky notched a pair of victories for the Hawks last week, including his first career shutout. The 6-6 keeper blanked Iona, making one save while sealing off the goal for the Hawks. Later in the week, Klenofsky registered two saves in a 2-1 road win over Siena. He played the entire 180 minutes in the week. Klenofsky is now 2-0-1 since moving into the starting lineup for Monmouth.

MAAC Rookie of the Week

DANIEL LAGUNA KENNEDY, Manhattan

F, Fr., 6-0, 176, Madrid, Spain/Jorge Manriqeu

The freshman striker was instrumental in the Jaspers’ lone match last week, a 5-2 win over Fairfield. Both of Laguna Kennedy’s strikes came in the second half and kept the margin comfortable for the Jaspers. Laguna Kennedy took five shots in the match, with four on goal. His pair of goals helped Manhattan to its highest scoring output in five seasons.
