Senior guard Sean Armand averaged 27.0 points and 5.0 assists to lead the Gaels to a 2-0 start in MAAC play with wins over Marist and Fairfield. Armand sank 56.3 percent from the floor, and was 7-of-14 (50.0%) from beyond the three-point arc. He also contributed 4.5 rebounds and 2.0 steals on the week. In the Gaels’ 83-74 win over Marist, Armand scored 26 points and added four rebounds and three assists. He connected on 60 percent from the floor (9-of-15), including 60 percent (6-of-10) of his three-point attempts. He also grabbed four rebounds and dished off three assists against the Red Foxes. In a 83-72 win at Fairfield, Armand tallied 28 points, hitting 9-of-17 from floor (52.9 percent). Armand also sank 9-of-11 free throw attempts and sank one three-point field goal. Armand grabbed five rebounds, dished off seven assists and had three steals and a block in the win over the Stags. Armand played 40 minutes in both games and committed just three turnovers. It was the second time this season that Armand has been named Player of the Week.
MAAC Rookie of the Week
JIMMIE TAYLOR III, Rider

Freshman guard Jimmie Taylor averaged 18.0 points and 5.0 rebounds to help Rider to a 2-0 start in the MAAC last week. In a 89-83 road win at Monmouth in the Broncs’ first conference game, Taylor scored 15 points and added two assists and a block. Taylor hit 3-of-4 field goals from beyond the three-point arc in the win over the Hawks. In a 90-78 victory over Quinnipiac, Taylor scored a career high 21 points. Clutching a 77-73 lead over Quinnipiac late in the second half, Rider scored nine straight points, including four from Taylor, to secure the win. Taylor sank 4-of-6 of his three-point field goal attempts, and added seven rebounds and two assists. He sank 7-of-10 tries from beyond the three-point arc. The rookie is the Broncs’ third leading scorer at 13.3 points per game, and is second with 16 assists.
