EDISON, NJ (August 20, 2026) – The Metro Conference announced Thursday the 2026-27 men’s basketball schedule. The first basketball season under the Metro name tips off on Wednesday, Dec. 2 when Saint Peter’s visits Manhattan.
Metro Men’s Basketball Schedule Quick Facts:
- With 13 full members, the Metro will play an unbalanced conference schedule for the third consecutive season.
- All 13 teams will play a 20-game conference schedule, which will include 10 home games and 10 road games in addition to having two bye dates.
- Each team will play eight opponents twice in a home-and-home series (16 games).
- The remaining four contests on each team’s schedule will be single games against the remaining four opponents, featuring two home contests and two road contests.
2026-27 Men’s Schedule Notes:
- The conference schedule begins on Dec. 2 and ends on Feb. 28.
- Defending champion Siena opens conference play on Friday, Dec. 4 at home vs. Merrimack in a rematch of the 2026 Championship Final.
- The Metro will play a Friday/Sunday schedule in eight of the 10 weeks.
- The 2026-27 ESPNU slate will be announced at a later date.
2027 Metro Men’s and Women’s Basketball Championships Notes:
- The 2026-27 campaign culminates with the 2027 Metro Men’s and Women’s Basketball Championships at Atlantic City’s Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall for the eighth consecutive year dating back to 2020.
- For the third straight year, the basketball championship field will feature the league’s top 10 teams and not all 13 full members.
- The 2027 Championship be played Thursday, March 4 – Tuesday, March 9.
- The men’s and women’s semifinals rounds will take place on Sunday, March 7 with the women’s championship final taking place on Monday, March 8 and the men’s on Tuesday, March 9.
- The men’s championship final returns to primetime on one of ESPN’s premiere networks, securing a linear spot on either ESPN or ESPN2 on Tuesday night.
