POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – Sophomore outside hitter Jordan Newblatt of the Marist volleyball team was named Sports Imports/American Volleyball Coaches Association National Player of the Week on Tuesday.
Newblatt is the first student-athlete in program history to earn this honor.
On back-to-back days this past weekend, Newblatt set Marist's program record for kills. She had 31 against Canisius on Saturday to go along with 21 digs and a .400 hitting percentage. The following day against Niagara, Newblatt upped the record to 34 kills, in addition to having 22 digs and a .311 hitting percentage.
Over her last six matches, Newblatt is averaging 25.5 kills and 18.5 digs while hitting .314.
Newblatt joins an impressive list of student-athletes nationwide who have been honored by the AVCA this season, and is the first sophomore to earn the award in the 2021 season:

Newblatt was named Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Player of the Week for the second straight week earlier Tuesday.
Marist (11-9 overall, 6-3 MAAC) returns to action on Saturday, when the Red Foxes host Siena at 1 p.m. at McCann Arena. The Red Foxes will be taking part in a Pink Out match to raise awareness and funds for breast cancer awareness.
