Niagara’s Hammond, Fairfield’s Long Earn Hercules Tires Men’s MAAC Basketball Weekly Awards

Hammond averaged 23.5 points per game in NU's two-game week. In a 3-point loss at Xavier on Tuesday, Hammond led all scorers with 25 points. He brought down six rebounds and made four 3-pointers. Against No. 17 Ohio State on Friday, he led NU in scoring with 22 points. He had six rebounds, three assists and made four 3-pointers. In addition to his 23.5 points per game, Hammond averaged 6.0 rebounds per game and 2.0 assists per game. He shot almost 52% from the field.
 
Rookie of the Week
TJ Long, Fairfield
Fr., Rockville Centre, NY, Canterbury School
 
Long netted double figures in the first two games of his college career, pouring in 11 at Providence and 13 against Boston College. He shot 9-16 (.563) from the field, 4-11 (.364) from distance, and canned both of his free throw attempts. Long also ripped down seven rebounds with three assists and a pair of steals. For the week, he averaged 22.6 minutes per game, notching 12.0 points and 4.0 rebounds per outing.
