EDISON, NJ (December 2, 2021) –Through the conclusion of the 2021 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Fall Championships, Fairfield University holds a slight lead over Marist College atop the Commissioner’s Cup Standings.
The MAAC Commissioner's Cup is awarded annually as a symbol of overall excellence in athletics in the 24 MAAC Championships. Each institution is scored in all regular seasons and championships that it fields a varsity team. Only the scores from men's and women's basketball, plus the top six men's and top six women's scores are used to determine an institution's total points.
Fairfield University leads the way with 50.5 points by way of capturing the 2021 MAAC Volleyball Regular Season and Tournament Championships. The Stags also advanced to the MAAC Championship Semifinals in both men’s and women’s soccer to help propel them in the standings.
Marist College finished the fall season with 50 points after winning the 2021 MAAC Men’s Soccer Regular Season and Tournament Championships.
Monmouth University and Rider University tied for third with 49.5 points in the 2021 MAAC Commissioner’s Cup standings after Monmouth women’s soccer took home both the 2021 MAAC Regular Season and Tournament Championships and placed both of their Men’s and Women’s Cross-Country teams in the top four of the 2021 MAAC Cross Country Championships.
Rider University took the second-seed in the MAAC Volleyball Championship and fell in the Championship Finals while their men’s soccer team fell in the finals as well to highlight their third-place standing thus far.
