EDISON, NJ (December 17, 2021) – The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) women’s basketball league slate begins tonight, December 17, with Saint Peter’s University traveling to Lewiston, NY to take on Niagara University.
Through non-conference play, the Niagara University Purple Eagles are 3-5 and rank first in scoring offense in the league. The Saint Peter’s University Peacocks are 2-6 and bring the fifth best scoring mark in the MAAC.
Niagara has gathered wins over Colgate, Cornell and Loyola (MD.). Their
most recent victory came on December 4 against Cornell University (4-6), 76-71. Senior Maddy Yelle and junior Angel Parker combine to score 30 points for the Purple Eagles to help propel them to victory. Parker currently ranks second in the MAAC with 16.6 PPG.
Saint Peter’s has registered wins against Wagner and Delaware State this season. Their
win over Delaware State, 77-50, was the largest margin of victory since their 27-point victory over LIU on November 17, 2018. Graduate Kendrea Williams and junior Kassondra Brown combined to score 31 in the contest. So far this season, Brown is averaging 15.3 PPG (6
th in MAAC) and 9.9 RPG (2
nd in MAAC).

Steady Scoring:
Through 89 non-conference games, five schools averaged over 60 points as a team this season with Niagara (70.5) and Quinnipiac (69.7) leading the way. Individually, there are 21 scorers in the conference averaging double digits led by MAAC Preseason Player of the Year and Fairfield’s Lou Lopez-Senechal who is averaging 18.3 PPG.
Double-Double Domination:
MAAC players have recorded 24 total double-doubles this season with four each from Manhattan’s Courtney Warley and Marist’s Zaria Shazer. Quinnipiac’s Mikala Morris, Rider’s Raphaela Touissant and Saint Peter’s Brown have each recorded three, respectively.
