Canisius’ Bolender, Nykamp, and Niagara’s Dafoe and Siena’s Kalac Win MAAC Swimming & Diving Weekly Awards

Men’s Swimmer of the Week:
 Riley Dafoe, Niagara
Gr., Midlothian, VA, Cincinnati

Dafoe had a terrific start to his first season as a Purple Eagle, as he picked up four total wins. He won the 500 free (4:43.95), While also helping NU win three relay events, the 200 medley relay (1:34.21), the 400 free relay (3:09.92), and the 400 medley relay (3:28.02). He also posted top-6 conference times in three events (200 Free, 500 Free, 100 Back).
 
Men’s Diver of the Week:
Samuel Nykamp, Canisius
Fr., Holland, NY, Holland Christian
 
Freshman Samuel Nykamp began his collegiate career in a big way, picking up a pair of first-place finishes on Saturday. In the 1-meter dive, Nykamp recorded a score of 312.45 while picking up a 320.85 in the 3-meter dive.
 
Women’s Swimmer of the Week:
Rory Kalac, Siena
Sr., Huntersville, NC, Clements HS
 
Kalac won the 50 free (24.26) and the 100 free (53.49), while also anchoring the team's first place 200 medley relay (50 free, 23.49), and 400 free relay teams. Her 50 free and the 400 free relay times currently rank first in the MAAC this season, while the 100 free time ranks second.
 
Women’s Diver of the Week:
Adriana Bolender, Canisius
Gr., Youngstown, NY, Lewiston Porter
 
Graduate diver Adriana Bolender topped her previous career-high from last weekend with a pair of scores over 250. The reigning Women's Diver of the Week picked up a score of 254.18 in the 1-meter and 274.43 in the 3-meter events.
 
The 2023 MAAC Men's & Women’s Swimming & Diving Championships return to the Burt Flickinger Center on the campus of Erie Community College (ECC) in Buffalo, NY for the 12th consecutive year. The four-day meet co-hosted by Canisius College and Niagara University will take place from Wednesday, February 8 through Saturday, February 11.
