Canisius' Minto and Janson; Marist's Wenzel, Niagara’s Furner, and Siena’s Spenziero Earn MAAC Swimming & Diving Weekly Awards

Men’s Swimmer of the Week:
Archie Minto, Canisius
So., Burley in Wharfedale, England, Ilkley Grammar School
 
Sophomore Archie Minto had a weekend to remember as he was part of five program records over the weekend at the Magnus Cup in Cleveland, Ohio, including four individual program bests. Minto swam a 1:50.67 in the 200 IM, 48.35 in the 100 Fly, 1:47.28 in the 200 Fly, 44.94 in the 100 Free and was part of the 3:04.82 400 Free Relay. The Burley in Wharfefale, England, native holds the most individual records in program history for a Canisius male swimmer amongst current record holders.
 
Men’s Co- Divers of the Week:
John Furner, Niagara
So., Haddonfield, NJ
 
Sophomore diver, John Furner posted a score of 249.70 in the 1-meter dive and set the Magnus Cup record on the tower dive with a score of 187.20. His 1-meter score ranks fifth in the MAAC this season..
 
Tyler Wenzel, Marist
Sr., Middletown, CT, Middletown

Tyler Wenzel swept the podium in the meet against Colgate. The senior diver placed first in both the one-meter (227.63) and three-meter dive (231.30)
 

Women’s Swimmer of the Week:

Lana Janson, Canisius
Fr., Cape Town, South Africa, DF Malan Hoerskool


Freshman Lana Janson continued her dominance in the pool, establishing three program records over the weekend in the Magnus Cup in Cleveland, Ohio. Janson broke the school records in the 200 IM (2:03.50), 100 Breast (1:04.30) and 200 Free (1:50.98). The Cape Town, South Africa, native holds the most individual records in program history for a Canisius female swimmer amongst current record holders.
 
Women’s Diver of the Week:

Talia Spenziero, Siena
Jr., Clifton Park, NY, Shenendehowa
 
Spenziero took first place in one-meter diving (271.26) and placed third in three-meter diving (283.12) during the Saints' dual meet against Stony Brook, with both marks qualifying her for NCAA Zone Regionals.
 
The 2023 MAAC Men's & Women’s Swimming & Diving Championships return to the Burt Flickinger Center on the campus of Erie Community College (ECC) in Buffalo, NY for the 12th consecutive year. The four-day meet co-hosted by Canisius College and Niagara University will take place from Wednesday, February 8 through Saturday, February 11.
