In league play, Saint Peter’s University outlasted Quinnipiac University in Jersey City, giving the Peacocks their first MAAC win of the season. In non-conference action, Fairfield University got back on track with a home win over Coast Guard.

Fairfield rolled past Coast Guard, 86-45, on Sunday afternoon at the Leo D. Mahoney Arena in non-conference action. All 12 active members of the Stags contributed at least two points and one rebound as Fairfield improved to 5-7 overall with the win and 3-1 at the midway point of its eight-game homestand at Mahoney Arena. Supreme Cook paced the Stags with a double-double, scoring a career-high 21 points and a season-best 13 rebounds. James Johns Jr. was the only other Stag in double figures with 11 points to go along with a career-best eight rebounds for the freshman.

Quinnipiac led at the break by two and held the lead in the game for over 21 minutes but Saint Peter’s used a 36-27 second half to claim the win. Isiah Dasher led all scorers with 29 points and Latrell Reid added 13 points to lead the Peacocks. The Bobcats had a trio of players in double figures with Dezi Jones posting 14 points, while Ike Nweke and Luis Kortright added 10 points each.

The Gaels came within one possession of erasing a 17-point first half deficit with less than five minutes left but the Lobos withstood the comeback effort, snapping Iona’s five-game winning streak. Nelly Junior Joseph led the Gaels with 21 points and Walter Clayton Jr. posted 14 points in the loss. The Gaels fall to 7-3 overall on the year following the game.
