Mike Steffan played an integral role a pair of Canisius' victories over Pitt last weekend. Steffan logged a .529 batting average (9-for-17) and a 1.615 OPS in the team's four-game series. He hit three home runs and had 10 RBI. Steffan logged three multi-hit performances and had a pair of five-RBI games in both Griffs’ victories.
Pitcher of the Week
Trey Dombroski, Monmouth
Jr., Manasquan, NJ, Wall
Trey Dombroski was dominant in Monmouth's win over Big 10 foe Penn State, throwing six no-hit innings with zero walks and seven strikeouts. The only blemish came on a hit by pitch that was quickly erased by a double play, resulting in Dombroski facing the minimum through his six frames on just 59 pitches.
Rookie of the Week
Peyton Consigli, Canisius
Fr., Fonthill, Ontario, St. Francis High (NY)
Peyton Consigli earned his first collegiate victory in his debut Sunday against Pitt, pitching 3.1 relief innings. Consigli allowed a run on two hits and struck out a pair of batters. He also limited Pitt to bat just .182 off him in 11 at-bats. The Fonthill, Ontario, native became the first Canisius freshman to earn a victory in his collegiate debut in 11 years.
