Fairfield Women’s Hoops Claim MAAC Regular Reason Title and Four More Get Wins as AC Approaches Quickly
 
EDISON, NJ (February 25, 2022) – Fairfield, Iona, Quinnipiac, Saint Peter’s, Siena gain important wins as the home stretch of the MAAC basketball season commences.

Sophomore Ahniysha Jackson scored her way into a career night, pouring in a new career-best 21 points on seven three pointers as the Siena Saints took down the Canisius Golden Griffins by a final score of 56-54 at the UHY Center Thursday night. Jackson's seven three pointers are tied for the second-most in a single game in program history, and the first to do so since Aaliyah Jones made seven versus Marist on Feb. 1, 2019. Rayshel Brown finished with 12 points. For the Griffs, Dani Haskell (14 points) and Erika Joseph (10 points) finished in double-figures.

Fairfield University claimed the 2022 MAAC Women’s Regular Season Championship on Thursday night after a 75-52 win over Monmouth University. Sydney Lowery finished with 18 points, Lou Lopez-Senechal contributed 16 points and Sam Lewis recorded 11 points en route to victory. Sakaria Haralson was the lone Hawk to finish in double-figures with 10 points.

Despite 25 points from Angel Parker, Saint Peter’s downed Niagara, 74-68 for their fifth straight win at home. Graduate guard Kendrea Williams led the team in scoring with 20 points while junior center Kassondra Brown recorded her seventh consecutive double-double, scoring 12 points and grabbing 15 rebounds. Ally Haar finished with 12 points for Niagara and Kaila Dawkins had 11 points, while Kourtney Crane added 10 points for the Peacocks.

Sajada Bonner’s 14 points and Mikala Morris’ 13th double-double of the season led Quinnipiac University to a 65-56 win over Marist College yesterday afternoon. Amani Free finished with 12 points and Rose Caverly added 10 points. For the Red Foxes, Trinasia Kennedy scored a game-high 18 points and Anabel Ellison finished with 12 points. Quinnipiac took the season series from Marist and improve to 12-5 in MAAC play as Marist falls to 6-12.

 The Iona College women's basketball team defeated Rider 65-58 in the Gaels final home game of the regular season on Thursday night. Four Gaels scored in double-figures, led by Juana Camilion’s 17 points. Ketsia Athias notched her second consecutive double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds. Olivia Vezaldenos finished with 15 points and Shyan Mwai added 10. Rapahela Toussaint led the Broncs with 14 points as Lenaejha Evans, Jessika Schiffer and Amanda Mobley all finished with double-figures as well.
 
The 2021-22 campaign culminates with the 2022 Hercules Tires MAAC Men’s and Women’s Basketball Championships from March 8-12 at Atlantic City's Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall.
