Saint Peter's Holloway Selected as Finalist for Three National Coaching Awards

Holloway named a finalist for the Ben Jobe, Hugh Durham and Skip Prosser Awards

JERSEY CITY, N.J. (March 23, 2022) - Coming off winning the program's first Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference tournament title since 2011 and advancing to the Sweet 16 in the NCAA Tournament for the first time in program history, Saint Peter's men's basketball head coach Shaheen Holloway has been selected as a finalist for three national coaching awards this week, being named a finalist for the Ben Jobe National Coach of the Year, the Hugh Durham National Coach of the Year and the Skip Prosser Man of the Year and awards.

The 2020 The Rock MAAC Coach of the Year, Holloway has led the Peacocks to heights unseen in program history with wins over #2-seed Kentucky and #7-seed Murray State to be the first coach in MAAC history to reach the Regional Semifinal round.

The Ben Jobe National Coach of the Year is presented annually to the top Division I minority coach and is named in honor of one of the finest men to ever coach college basketball. Ben Jobe is an icon in the history of basketball at Historically Black Colleges and Universities. He is best known as the head coach of Southern University, a position he held for 12 seasons. He was also head coach at Alabama A&M, Alabama State, Talladega, Tuskegee and South Carolina State.

The Hugh Durham National Coach of the Year award is presented annually to the top Division I mid-major coach in college basketball and is named after a coach who built winning programs at three different universities. In eight seasons as the head coach at Jacksonville University, Durham became the Dolphins' all-time winningest Division I coach (106 wins), making him the only coach in NCAA history to be the winningest coach (pct. or wins) at three different Division I schools.

Finally, the Skip Prosser Man of the Year award honors those who not only achieve success on the basketball court but who display moral integrity off the floor as well. In six years with the Deacons, Prosser posted a 126-68 record. For his career, he was 291-146 in 14 seasons including six as the head coach at Xavier and one year at Loyola (Md.).

Holloway joins Norfolk State University head coach Robert Jones as one of only two coaches in the NCAA to be named a finalist for all three awards.

The Peacocks will be back in action Friday night as they take on #3-seed Purdue University at 7:00 p.m. on CBS inside the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia with a spot in the Elite 8 on the line.
