Niagara’s Borg and Rider’s Stalzer Named Hercules Tires MAAC Student-Athletes of the Week

EDISON, NJ (April 27, 2022) – Niagara’s Jaida Borg and Rider’s Cal Stalzer have been named the Hercules Tires Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Student-Athletes of the Week.

Sophomore Jaida Borg finished the season 9-12 overall in singles and 3-1 in doubles action. Borg played 14 of her 21 singles matches at the No. 4 position, finishing the year with an 8-6 overall record. In conference action, Borg was 2-4 in singles play, with a 2-3 record at No. 4 singles. She helped Niagara earn the No. 4 spot in the MAAC Women's Tennis Championship and was an All-Academic Team selection.

Stalzer is currently leading the MAAC in saves for the second-straight season, currently ranking 46th nationally with six this season. In 26 innings this season he has struck out 32 batters. The Graduate student was a member of the MAAC All-Tournament Team in 2021 after throwing the final four innings against Fairfield to clinch the MAAC Championship. In the classroom, Stalzer has been equally impressive, maintaining a 3.89 GPA in his graduate course load.
