Robbie Armitage led the Red Foxes to a sweep this weekend, hitting 8/13 (.615) with a home run, two doubles, six runs, and five RBIs. Armitage collected at least two hits in each game, including a 4-5 performance on Sunday in which he hit two doubles and a home run.
Pitcher of the Week
Michael Sansone, Fairfield
Sr., Cheshire, CT, Notre-Dame West Haven
Sansone got the victory in the middle game of the series as he tossed seven innings and allowed just one earned run in the first inning. He surrendered just two hits and none for five-straight innings.
Rookie of the Week
Peyton Consigli, Canisius
Fr., Fonthill, Ontario, St. Francis High (NY)
Peyton Consigli continued to be Canisius' go-to arm out of the bullpen, striking out four in 2.2 innings over two games last weekend for the Golden Griffins. In his first outing, Consigli inherited a bases-loaded jam with one out in the ninth inning before striking out the next two batters to record his fifth save of the season, marking the most by a Canisius freshman pitcher. In his second appearance, Consigli struck out two batters in as many innings.
