EMMITSBURG, Md. (August 22, 2022) – Mount St. Mary's women's basketball completed its coaching staff for the 2022-23 season with the addition of
Nicole Graham as assistant coach.
Originally from the Charlotte metropolitan area, Graham made her mark in coaching at a pair of Historically Black Colleges and Universities, HBCU's for short, in the Southeastern United States. This includes two stints at Clark Atlanta University – first as a graduate assistant for 2017-18, then returning as an assistant coach beginning in 2019. Last season, she helped guide two players to All-SIAC status, with Corriana Evans earning Newcomer of the Year honors.
In between her time in Atlanta, Graham traveled closer to home for a year, working at St. Augustine's in Raleigh. During her one season with the Falcons, she served as recruiting coordinator and assisted in all aspects of the program, who compete in the CIAA.
As a player, Graham competed for three teams. Starting out at Fayetteville State, she transferred to Brevard College where she earned a bachelors' degree. With an additional year of eligibility left, Graham arrived at Clark Atlanta. Playing 27 games with 21 starts, Graham registered 7.3 points and 2.9 rebounds, adding 42 steals and 26 assists.
The following season, as she continued to work towards her Master's, Graham joined the coaching staff, guiding the Panthers to 20 victories, an SIAC title and a trip to the NCAA Division II tournament.
Dreams of a career in basketball for Graham solidified at Charlotte's Mallard Creek High School, a statewide powerhouse program. During her high school career, Graham made the I-Mecklenburg All-Conference Team, the All-Mecklenburg County Team, the Charlotte Observer First Team, and was named the Mallard Creek High School Team Best Overall Player.
