MAAC Adds Steve Connelly as Director of Digital Media/Broadcasting

EDISON, NJ (Sept. 2, 2022) – The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) and Commissioner Rich Ensor have announced the hiring of Steve Connelly as Director of Digital Media/Broadcasting.

In this role, Connelly will serve as the primary contact for social and digital media and oversee the social media, digital media, and broadcasting development of the MAAC brand through the league’s broadcasting platforms and various forms of new and social media. He will also serve as the primary broadcasting and production contact for the MAAC with ESPN and MAAC member institutions.

“We are excited to welcome Steve to the conference office,” said Associate Commissioner of Marketing and Broadcasting Valerie McQuade. “Steve will bring his campus experiences to assist in MAAC content creation and broadcast productions. His previous role at MAAC member institution Saint Peter’s University gives him a strong background in this area, as well as great familiarity around the league.”

Prior to joining the MAAC, Connelly was an Athletics Communications and Digital Media graduate assistant at Saint Peter’s last year, where he developed creative content for the Peacocks’ social media, website, and area and served as the primary media contact for women’s volleyball, swimming and diving, and men’s golf. He also held the role of technical director on Saint Peter’s ESPN+ broadcasts, was a MAAC production assistant during the 2022 MAAC Basketball Tournament, and played a major role in content creation with Saint Peter's men's basketball during its Elite Eight run, serving as the team's videographer and graphic designer on the road.

“I’m excited for this opportunity and ready to hit the ground running,” said Connelly. “I’d like to thank Commissioner Rich Ensor, Deputy Commissioner Jessica Grasso, and Associate Commissioners Valerie McQuade and Hamilton Cook for bringing me into this role. I’m looking forward to being part of the MAAC staff and helping expand the conference’s digital efforts.”

Prior to Saint Peter’s, Connelly worked in athletic communications and digital media at Lafayette College and Chestnut Hill College from 2019-21.

Connelly earned his bachelor’s degree in public relations from Pennsylvania State University in 2019, where he served as an editor of Onward State, the nation’s most-followed student-run news organization. He is currently pursuing a master's degree in communication and public relations at Saint Peter's.
