Manhattan dropped a midweek contest at LIU in three sets on Wednesday night. The Sharks won the sets by scores of 25-14, 25-18, and 25-8. Camila Gomez and Kelly Markowski shared the team lead with six kills for Manhattan. Julieanne McKee added eight digs and six assists. McKee made her season debut for the Jaspers. Manhattan took a 6-4 lead in set one off a kill from Sarah Emmons. LIU answered with a string of seven points in a row to take an 11-6 lead. The Jaspers would not get any closer over the remainder of the set. The Sharks scored seven of the first nine points in the second set. Manhattan would battle back to within two, 11-9, with the help of kills from McKee, Markowski, and Julia Menocal. Later, Bella Nascimento and Gomez tallied back-to-back kills to get the Jaspers tied at 15. LIU answered with the next four points to take the lead for good. In the final set, the hosts scored the first eight points and then extended their lead to 14-3 en route to the set win.

The Rider University volleyball team took a set from Princeton for the first time since 1994 on Wednesday night but ultimately could not defeat the Tigers in the Battle of 206, falling three sets to one (19-25, 25-23, 16-25, 11-25). Morgan Romano finished with double-digit kills for the sixth time this season, finishing with a team-high 15, and Carley McAleavey reached double-digit kills for the first time in her career, with 12 on .450 hitting. Tied 6-6 in the opening set, Princeton won three-straight points, the only three-point rally in the entire set. Both offenses dominated as Rider hit .433, but the Tigers hit .750 to take the opening set 25-19. The second set played out much like the first, with the offenses dominating play. Down 16-15, Rider scored four-straight points, bookended by kills from Nicole Wilkinson. The Broncs maintained the lead, taking the set 25-23. Princeton took over in the third, jumping out to a 10-3 lead. Trailing 18-10, Rider scored three-straight points on the serve of Julia Slivka, including an ace, one of two for Slivka in the match. The Tiger quickly closed out the set from that that moment however, taking the set 25-16. The Tigers carried the momentum into the fourth set, jumping out to a 6-0 lead. Princeton never looked back, not allowing the Broncs to score more than two consecutive points in a 25-11 set.

The Saint Peter's women's volleyball lost three sets to none against Lafayette on Wednesday. Freshman Morgan Thurlow was the Peacocks leading scorer on the day, tallying 8 points. After the first set started at three-a-piece, Lafayette had control the rest of the way, going on to win the first set 25-9. The second set was similar to the first; the Peacocks held around a little bit longer this time, as the score was 8-8 after 16 points, but the Leopards ultimately pulled away, winning 25-14. The Peacocks and Leopards went back and forth in a thrilling third set, but the Leopards ended up pulling away and winning 27-25. Thurlow had six kills and eight points, Ava Harmon led the team in kills with seven, Laken Dillion had 16 digs, Lillian Konrad had 12 assists, and Sydney Kuzma had five kills and two digs.
The 2022 MAAC Volleyball Championship takes place from November 16 through 19 at ESPN Wide World of Sports in Lake Buena Vista, FL. The 10-team, single-elimination championship will feature four rounds of action with the opening round taking place on Wednesday, November 16, followed by the quarterfinals on Thursday, November 17, the semifinals on Friday, November 18, and concluding with the championship match on Saturday, November 19.
