Canisius earned a 1-0 win over Stonehill in men's soccer action Friday afternoon at the Demske Sports Complex, the first as a Division I head coach for Michael Tanke. The two teams played a scoreless match for over 60 minutes before a Skyhawks' player committed a foul in the box, giving senior Julius Schoner a penalty kick opportunity. Schoner placed the ball in the bottom right corner of the net, giving the Griffs a 1-0 lead in the 66th minute. Graduate keeper William Howard turned aside seven Stonehill shots in the shutout for the Griffs.

Fairfield defeated Albany 1-0 on Friday in its home opener, the team’s second straight clean sheet victory. Reigning MAAC Rookie of the Week, Kaea Rangihaeata sent a shot that beat the goalkeeper to the far corner in the 52nd minute, producing the game-deciding goal. Raz Amir assisted on the goal for the Stags. Fairfield keeper James Anderson made six saves, recording his second consecutive shutout win.

Manhattan played La Salle to a 1-1 draw Friday night in Philadelphia. Forced to play down a man for the entire second half following a first half red card, the Jaspers scored the first goal of the night in the 47th minute, when James Cotter scored off a set piece. La Salle was able to respond with the equalizer in the 49th minute. Danny DiMarco recorded three saves for the Jaspers in the tie.

Primed for a draw, Mount St. Mary’s suffered a heartbreaking 2-1 defeat at the hands of Lafayette on Friday in Emmitsburg. The Leopards scored the game-winning goal with just 15 seconds remaining in the match, to steal the win from the Mountaineers. Minutes after Lafayette scored the game’s first goal in the 15th miunte, Anthony Milazzo and Jesus Salazar found Marcus Lewis on the right edge of the box, where the sophomore got past two defenders and slid the ball past the goalkeeper for the equalizer in the 20th minute.

A goal in the 72nd minute lifted Dartmouth to a 1-0 win over Niagara Friday night at Niagara Field in non-conference men's soccer action. Despite the setback, Niagara outshot Dartmouth 17-9 and 8-3 on target. Emmanuel Obiefuna led the Purple Eagles with four shots and Josh Savoni finished the game with two saves in goal.

The Rider University men's soccer team couldn't overcome two early Penn goals in a 2-1 loss Friday night. Penn scored in the 5th and 8th minutes to build its early lead over the Broncs. Rider responded with Tom Skrocki first goal of the season coming in the 38th minute, off of a feed from Lenny Cidolit. Rider keeper Guillaume Veinante made four saves in the defeat.

Siena men's soccer suffered its first defeat of the year against previously nationally ranked, Providence College, 4-0 at Chapey Field at Anderson Stadium in Providence, Rhode Island Friday evening. The Saints let up a goal in the 24th minute of play, before the Friars tacked on three more scores in the second half, including a penalty kick conversion in the 60th minute. Seven different Saints registered shots with sophomores Jacob Sandun Arachchige-Jensen and Erik Reis each putting attempts on-goal. Graduate student goalkeeper Greg Monroe tied a season-high with five saves in-goal.

Quinnipiac recorded its second straight shutout win, topping Hartford 3-0 on Saturday in Hamden to improve to 2-1 on the season. David Bercedo netted two of three Bobcat goals, scoring in the 6th and 11th minutes of action. Brage Aasen assisted on both goals from Bercedo. Jared Smith and Tomas Svecula added an assist each on the first and second goal, respectively. In the 64
th minute, Svecula added a penalty kick goal to give the Bobcats insurance. Goalkeeper Matthew Pisani made two saves, as the Bobcats defense earned its second clean sheet of the 2022 campaign.

Saint Peter's University men's soccer conceded a pair of late goals, resulting in a 2-1 loss at Bucknell on Sunday night. Sophomore defender Daniel Blackmore scored the lone goal for the Peacocks in the first half during the 19th minute when he got his head on a cross off of a free kick from freshman midfielder Reiss Skeen to put the Peacocks up 1-0. An own goal by the Peacocks in the 82nd minute and an 84th minutes free kick goal by Bucknell would be the deciding factor in the match.
The 2022 MAAC Men's Soccer Championship will take place from November 6 through 13. The six-team, single-elimination championship will be hosted by the higher seed of each match. The opening round will take place on Sunday, November 6, followed by the semifinals on Thursday, November 10, and concluding with the championship match on Sunday, November 13.
