Cooper set a pool record in the Broncs' home pool, swimming 55.89 in the 100-breast, one of three wins for Cooper in a dual win over Lafayette. Cooper also won the 200-breast with a time of 2:10.17 and was part of the winning 200-medley relay team that posted a time of 1:32.69. For the season, Cooper ranks third in the MAAC in the 100-breast and second in the MAAC in the 200-breast.
Men’s Diver of the Week
John Furner, Niagara
So., Haddonfield, NJ, Haddonfield Memorial
Furner, the reigning MAAC men's diver of the week, had another stellar weekend on the boards. Across two meets, he posted scores of 272.03 and 289.28 on the 1-meter board and 165.45 and 281.10 on the 3-meter - the best scores in each event.
Women’s Swimmer of the Week
Zoe Gavin, Niagara
Gr., Diamond Point, NY, Bolton Central School
Gavin set the pool record and the 2nd-fastest MAAC time in the 100 fly, clocking in at 56.81 to win the event. She also picked up a win in the 200 fly with the fastest time in the conference this season at 2:06.53.
Women’s Diver of the Week
Talia Spenziero, Siena
Jr., Clifton Park, NY, Shenendehowa
Spenziero won both the one-meter (251.55) and the three-meter (260.33) diving events on Sunday during a packed weekend of action, while finishing second in the one-meter (191.70) diving event on Saturday.
The 2023 MAAC Men's & Women’s Swimming & Diving Championships return to the Burt Flickinger Center on the campus of Erie Community College (ECC) in Buffalo, NY for the 12th consecutive year. The four-day meet co-hosted by Canisius College and Niagara University will take place from Wednesday, February 8 through Saturday, February 11.
